Garbage & Recycling

Residents in the Town of Oregon have two options for garbage and recycling disposal:

  1. Bring garbage and recyclables to the Town of Oregon Recycling Center (TORC).  Here is a list of 2023 TORC Fees.  We’ve made it easy for you to recycle some of these items with our All-In-One Recycling, including newspapers, magazines, office paper, glass bottles and jars, plastics cups and containers #1-7, aluminum and steel containers, and more.  There is no charge for recyclables.  Recyclables should be placed in a clear garbage bag or the bag must be torn open prior to putting the recyclables into the bin.  Here is a recycling tip videos.  Here is a recycling video of the sorting process.
  2. The town is currently entering contract negotiations with Pellitteri for townwide curbside collection of weekly residential garbage and bi-weekly recycling starting July 1, 2023.  Contract directly through Waste Management or Pelliterri for curbside collection.
    • Waste Management 1-888-960-0008
    • Pellitteri 257-4285     **The Town of Oregon doesn't distribute garbage cans. Garbage cans would be obtained from the company directly.

The following items are required to be recycled, but cannot be placed into the dumpsters: appliances, brush and yard waste, electronics, lead acid batteries, and tires.

Composting and Wood Chips are available for free on a first-come basis at the TORC.

The Town of Oregon Recycling Center (TORC) is open every Saturday from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The Town of Oregon Recycling Center (TORC) is a complete recycling and waste disposal center for all Town of Oregon residents.

The site is a full-service site for disposing of trash or recycling a variety of items.  To use the TORC, you need to purchase a TORC punch card on-site at the TORC.  Please be prepared to show your driver's license or proof of residency in the Town of Oregon when purchasing a ticket for the first time.  The punch card costs $60.00 and never expires.  This works out to $6.00 per 30-gallon garbage bag and $3.00 per 30-gallon recycling bag brought to the site.

There is no charge for cardboard.  There are charges for special items like tires.  These items cost the town money and we are merely passing this cost on to the residents.  See the fees chart below.
