Additional Information Available Here

Project Overview

This project will reconstruct the intersection of US 14 and WIS 92 to a roundabout in order to reduce the history of fatal/severe injuries type crashes. This intersection had 17 recorded crashes from 2012 through 2016. Of the 17 crashes, 14 were right angle crashes. Those 14 crashes resulted in two suspected serious injuries, two suspected minor injuries, four possible injuries, and six property damage only crashes. The project is being funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP).

The project will also address four miles of deteriorating pavement on US 14 between WIS 138 and WIS 92 in Dane County. This section of US 14 will be resurfaced to extend the service life and improve safety.

Additional improvements include:

  • Pave asphalt shoulders throughout corridor to improve safety
    • Widen paved shoulders an additional two feet
  • Install shoulder rumble strips and centerline rumble strips to improve safety
    • Centerline and shoulder rumble strips will be a new design that helps to reduce noise
  • Installation of gravel shoulders to match the final roadway elevation
  • Installation of pavement marking
  • Installation of new advanced warning signs
