Notice for Written Comments
The Town of Oregon seeks comments from community residents regarding the Town’s Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan update to the Dane County Natural Hazard Mitigation Plan. The Town’s Emergency Management committee has determined that the top four hazards to the Town are winter storms, tornadoes, flooding, and windstorms. Because the threat of severe winter storms is likely to be widespread and affect the greatest number of residents, the committee focused its mitigation strategy on this hazard.
Please review the Municipal Mitigation Strategy Worksheet for “Protect Residents from Winter Storm Hazards through Awareness, Education, and Preparation.” While there’s no way to prevent severe winter storms, it is possible to lessen the impact through awareness, education, and preparation.
